Sports-Link and Leicestershire County Council organised a series of community basketball events at Barrow Youth club during June 2004. Young people from South Charnwood attended the evening sessions in which skill workshops, fun competitions and match-like situations were offered. The workshops bought people together from different villages within South Charnwood including Barrow-Upon-Soar, Sileby, Mountsorrel and Quorn. The success of the basketball led to further community events in South Chanwood.
